EAST COUNTY —
A fire destroyed a motorhome and three travel trailers at a campground storage site south of Jamul Sunday morning, causing about $250,000 in damage, a Cal Fire official said.
The fire was reported around 7:40 a.m. at the Pio Pico Resort & Campground storage site, located on the north side of Otay Lakes Road, west of Dulzura.
The fire started in a travel trailer and spread to an adjoining trailer, then to the motor home and a third trailer, Cal Fire Capt. Frank LoCoco said.
He said the motor home and travel trailers were empty, except for a utility terrain vehicle in a toy hauler trailer.
“They’re not going to be salvageable,” LoCoco said of the motorhome and trailers.
Because of the extensive damage, fire officials were unable to determine the cause of the fire, LoCoco said.
No injuries were reported.
Otay Lakes Road was closed in both directions for about two hours.
